Pet Portraits - Information Page

~ Early morning or late afternoon is the best time for photo sessions.

~ It helps if you exercise Fido a few hours before the session however, I don't recommend this for working dogs and handlers who are looking for animated action shots. With Fido it helps calm them down some and we don't want them over excited at the photo shoot with their tongues hanging out. For working dogs and handlers we will do calm posed images first and then action shots. The longer session times are geared for working canines to allow for rest, hydration, gear changes, possible location changes and cooling off periods.

~ I encourage you to have the collar and leash on Fido you would like to see in the images. Make sure they are fitted properly to avoid escape as they may be in a location they are not familiar with. I don't recommend using retractable leashes as they do not photograph well and I suggest a standard 6 foot leash length.

~ For equine models I recommend exercising in mid afternoon to burn extra energy off. Make sure to brush out any sweat stains, polish any tack up, shine hooves and bring bug spray!

~ Please bring water, a bowl or bucket, as many locations may not have water on site.

~ Please bring their favorite treats (preferably small in size for Fido), grain in a metal or plastic can and/or their favorite toy(s) that may squeak, honk or whistle. These items help get your pets attention for me to capture their eyes in the camera and make a connection.
